What can we do? What can we leave behind for our children?
This is a proposal for a technology that captures "carbon dioxide" from places around us.

Japan's Initiatives

Aiming for zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050

“The Carbon Neutrality Declaration for 2050”
In October 2020, during a special session of the Diet, then Prime Minister Kan pronounced the declaration to achieve zero emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases by 2050.

Zero overall emissions means that the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by humans will be offset by absorption or elimination to achieve zero overall emissions.

For example, replacing gasoline and other emissions from cars with electric or water-based vehicles will reduce emissions, as will the use of renewable energy sources such as solar power instead of electricity to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
In the other direction, we aim to offset overall emissions by promoting carbon dioxide absorption by plants through tree planting and collecting (absorbing, removing, reusing, and storing) greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere by means of greenhouse gas removal equipment, thereby reducing emissions to zero by 2050.

REVCELL Co., Ltd. will take on the challenge of achieving the goal of zero emissions by 2050!

ZERO
EMISSION

"ZERO Kuma-kun" is the image character of REVCELL's anti-global warming measures, based on the motif of a polar bear whose habitat is shrinking due to melting ice due to global warming. We will work together to achieve the "ZERO emission" by 2050!

The story of the ZERO Kuma-kun family. From the North Pole in 2050, ZERO Kuma Daddy will talk to children about global warming countermeasures.

Proposal from REVCELL

y collecting carbon dioxide at the household level, each individual can participate in the efforts to prevent global warming, and the amount of carbon dioxide collected can be tracked by individuals, households, stores, companies, or any group. When the amount of carbon dioxide actually collected is known, it is possible to realize how much one is contributing to the fight against global warming. We also believe that this will lead to a change in awareness of environmental issues, as each individual will be able to offset the carbon dioxide they have emitted. REVCELL proposes this type of participatory global warming countermeasure.

Emissions from Humans

Humans and animals actually exhale carbon dioxide through breathing. The amount is about 350 kg per person per year. The total emissions of Japanese people amount to about 37 million tons. REVCELL proposes a participatory carbon dioxide collection system in which each individual can participate in a tangible way by installing "CO2 Cleaners" in homes, workplaces, restaurants, and other places where people gather.

CO2 Cleaner

Unlike large scale devices installed in power plants, factories, etc., these compact air purifiers are designed to capture carbon dioxide in a compact form for use in homes, restaurants, commercial facilities, etc. The filter that collected carbon dioxide can tell you the specific amount of carbon dioxide collected by its capacity. We are studying ways to reduce the burden of filtering costs through emissions trading, point rewards, and other service linkages.

CARBON
OFFSET

REVCELL Carbon Offset

Homes, stores, businesses, autos, cinemas, restaurants, hotels, schools, trains, and more...
Every possible space can be a carbon dioxide collection point.

The concentration of carbon dioxide in fresh air is about 400ppm.
The concentration of carbon dioxide in human breath is 40,000ppm.

A large scale facility is required to collect carbon dioxide from atmosphere, which has a low concentration.

However, the concentration of carbon dioxide is high in places where humans are active, so, even compact products can efficiently collect carbon dioxide.

The carbon offset can be achieved by collecting carbon dioxide in the spaces where humans work and storing used filters, and resource saving can be achieved by reusing the used filters as glass or concrete material.

In the future, we will consider storing the CO2 in the ground, under the sea, or in space to prevent it from being emitted into the air again.

We will consider reducing the burden on participants (collectors) by soliciting subsidies from the government, municipalities, etc., emission rights trading, corporate advertising, etc., so that the cost can be covered by the price of the "CO2 Cleaner" and the price of the filter.

You can "see" your contribution to the prevention of global warming by evaluating the amount of carbon dioxide collected and the amount of money spent by individuals, families, companies, stores, prefectures, countries, and groups of your choice.

What REVCELL Can Do

Exhibit at the G7 Hiroshima Summit

At the International Media Center of the G7 Hiroshima Summit held on May 19, 2023, we exhibited a hybrid air purifier with DAC function, which can absorb CO2 directly from the air; as well as a stuffed animal of REVCELL's mascot polar bear, "ZERO Kuma-kun", on a snow field (*2, crystallized glass) made of RECOGLASS (*1, recycled glass), in cooperation with AIRTECH JAPAN, LTD. and ACBiode, Inc. (*2, crystallized glass) on top of a snowfield created with RECOGLASS (*1, recycled glass), which was exhibited as a publicity exhibit. The fact that our technology was exhibited at the G7 Hiroshima Summit (summit meeting of the leaders of seven major countries) as one of the technologies representing Japan was a great boost to our future development.

*1.Research and development of RECOGLASS is conducted in cooperation with Nippon Yamamura Glass.
*2.The snow field (crystallized glass) work using RECOGLASS was created by Yokohama Aoba Tamada Glass Studio.

Hybrid air cleaner with DAC system

This high-performance air cleaner is equipped with a HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter) by AIRTECH JAPAN, LTD. and a CO2 filter by REVCELL that can adsorb and fix carbon dioxide. By equipping the air purifier with its own CO2 collecting filter, it is now possible to collect carbon dioxide from a nearby space. We are pleased to introduce an epoch-making air purifier that can handle everything from minute particles such as pollen and dust to the new corona virus, and at the same time can collect carbon dioxide. In homes, offices, stores, and anywhere else. By installing it in any place, direct measures against global warming can be started from nearby places.

Glass works created from filters that adsorb and fix carbon dioxide.

REVCELL's CO2 filter chemically adsorbs and fixes carbon dioxide when it comes into contact with air. The adsorbent used for carbon dioxide adsorption and fixation can be recycled as a raw material for glass. As far as we know, this is the first process of its kind in the world. This display shows "ZERO Kuma-kun", the polar bear mascot of REVCELL on a glass snowfield (crystallized glass) made from the adsorbent that adsorbed and fixed carbon dioxide. This is a collaboration between a character based on the polar bear, whose habitat is shrinking due to melting ice due to global warming, and glass made from actual recovered carbon dioxide materials.

REVCELL CARBON DAC system

*DAC (Direct Air Capture) is a technology that collects directly from the air.REVCELL CARBON DAC system

REVCELL and CO2In 2014, we started a business selling hyperbaric oxygen capsules, which are used by athletes to recover from fatigue and injuries. In the process, we discovered that the concentration of carbon dioxide in the sealed oxygen capsule was significantly higher due to the carbon dioxide exhaled by the user, and we began research and development in 2018. The following year, in 2019, we started manufacturing and marketing a CO2 cleaner for hyperbaric oxygen capsules after conducting demonstration tests with a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

CO2 CollectionThe graph shows data from a test of mixing approximately 1,400 ppm carbon dioxide with 300 liters of air per minute to see how much the CO2 cleaner could reduce the concentration. The results show that the concentration of carbon dioxide was reduced by nearly half from 1400ppm. This graph shows the amount of carbon dioxide collected by the CO2 cleaner. It has been shown that by using different types of adsorbents, amounts of adsorbent, amount of airflow, and the way the air is blown, the amount of carbon dioxide collected can be increased even further.

CO2 CleanerThe photo shows an early model CO2 cleaner installed in a hyperbaric oxygen room. Based on the above, REVCELL is developing new air purifiers for homes and commercial facilities with the ability to collect carbon dioxide and remove viruses. We believe that the time has come for everyone to participate in the fight against global warming, given recent climate changes. We propose measures to prevent global warming in which everyone can participate by providing "visibility of the amount collected".

RECOGLASSWe have succeeded in making actual glass from used carbon dioxide adsorbent that has absorbed carbon dioxide from the air. This technology contributes to global warming countermeasures by collecting carbon dioxide from the air, and saves resources by reusing the used adsorbent. We have named this product RECOGLASS (RECYCLED, ECO, GLASS = RECO/GLASS).
